Mon 6th Jul - NAP of the Night

Acclaben was another monster drifter earlier, shifting out from the 4's taken to an SP of 11/1. Like Anne's Rocket yesterday and Tombov the night before, we knew the fate of that bet before they even left the blocks. It has left me really frustrated, I feel cheated when that happens, so I'm having another bet tonight.

7.00 Windsor

Fortunate Bid - makes his handicap debut tonight for Barry Hills. He was third here over shorter on his third maiden run, behind Standpoint (won maiden nto, rated 73) and infront of Jimwil (won h'cap rated 67 since), Angelo Poliziano (won h'cap off 63 since) and The Last Alzao (won off 53 since). He has a mark of 67 for this which looks fair on reflection given the form with those rivals, whilst he also has a high draw to start from and may go well at a price.

9/1 Bet 365, 0.5 pt EW (1/4 odds, 3 places).

Mon 6th Jul - NAP of the Day

Annes Rocket was a sickening drifter (4/1 out to 8/1) before the off yesterday as the months misfortune continued - the nap reared in the stalls and lost several lengths at the start, clearly all wasn't well. Things have to start going the other way sooner or later.

5.15 Musselburgh

Acclaben remains well handicapped and it is surely only a matter of time until Alan Swinbank's gelding makes his lenient mark pay. On his York debut he was closely matched with Whatwouldyouwishfor (handicap winner off 72 since) and on his second start at Thirsk he was infront of Coleorton Choice (h'cap winner off 70, 77 and 83 since) and had Rio Cobolo (won off 61 since) behind. He was initially rated 63 for his handicap debut in a Redcar nursery last term and finished a respectable 6th in a large field. He was then due to run at Ayr before the heavy ground forced a withdrawl, and he was put away for the year. However, he will come on for a recent pipeopener at Pontefract, has dropped 3 lb in the handicap, and can build upon that 5th and go in here.

4/1 SJ, 1 pt win

Sun 5th Jul - NAP of the Day

The market told the whole story with Tombov last night. After drifting out to 11/1 it seems he wasn't quite ready to go in on his return to action, but he remains one to keep an eye on nonetheless.

4.30 Brighton

Anne's Rocket was in red hot form ahead of his run over course and distance and was desperately unfortunate in attempting a land a hat-trick as he was brought down by a broken down horse which had pulled up 1f out. However, compensation could be waiting here as once again he has perfect conditions - a mile with the ground on top and Gemma Elford, with whom he has a great partnership, on top. He runs off the same mark as his last run, which is four pounds higher than his latest win, but he loves this track and could feasibly go in here.

4/1 VC Bet, 1 pt win

Sat 4th Jul - NAP of the Night

Legal Eagle was third at Haydock earlier and not beaten far. Nevertheless, he goes down as a loser.

8.50 Nottingham

Alan King's flat runners always warrant a second look and Tombov is no exception here as he looks to be running off a decent mark for his handicap debut. He had Never Lose behind in a Folkestone maiden, and that rival has won off 83 in handicap company. Tombov is rated 75 here. He has fitness to prove but Fergus Sweeney has been riding well for this yard and he can go close at a price.

Suggested bet 8/1 SJ, 1 pt win.

Sat 4th Jul - NAP of the Day

Ragsta was frustratingly pulled out of the 8.05 at Salisbury late in the day yesterday and was a non-runner.

5.10 Haydock

Silvestre de Sousa has a good record riding for Paul Green and they have tasted success with Neo's Mate and Dancing Red Devil from three rides already in the past fortnight. Here they team up with Legal Eagle and this former David Nicholls inmate hinted that his turn wasn't far away with an encouraging third over this trip at Chester last time out. He is versatile ground wise so if the going changes either way he will be suited fine, and he runs off a mark of 80 so looks handicapped to have a chance given his Thirsk second to Machinist last year off this mark. He drops in grade from his last run and should go well.

9/1 Bet 365, suggested bet 1 pt win

Fri 3rd Jul - NAP of the Day

Zefooha finished a close up second at Redcar last night with, as feared, Mister Nimbus proving the fly in the ointment. I sincerely hope a bout of seconditis isn't doing the rounds again. Today's nap comes from Salisbury.

8.05 Salisbury

Ragsta looks well handicapped for this nursery handicap, the third of the season, and could land the spoils for Richard Hannon, who also saddles Fleeting Echo. They bet 4/1 the field and the betting indicates this is a close affair, but I think Ragsta could be the one that has the most in hand on the handicapper judging by her 65 rating. She bumped into a very useful type in Radiohead on her Bath debut; Brian Meehan's Johannesburg colt won the Group 2 Norfolk Stakes next time out, so although Ragsta was four lengths adrift of the winner, she was far from disgraced, especially since she herself put quite a bit of daylight between herself and the third. She was then upped to todays trip of 6f when appearing at Lingfield and finished a respectable fourth. The winner, Hairspray was narrowly beaten in a listed contest next time out whilst the second, Curtains, won a maiden and has then ran credibly in Group 3 and listed races when narrowly beaten in large fields. Ragsta was only a length or two behind those horses, which you would imagine would be rated at least 80+ now, so looks to be well handicapped running off a much lower mark for Richard Smith here. She won last time out in a seller and although its foolhardy to get carried away with seller form, the win at least proved she handles this trip and ground.

7/1 Bet 365, suggested bet 1 pt win.

Thur 2nd Jul - NAP of the Day

Desert Pride finished a respectably fifth at Chepstow last night, having been backed into 10/1, however, he goes down as a loser nonetheless.

8.50 Redcar

Only eight go to post for this class 5 handicap over 1m 6f. Paddy Reilly has been raised 4 lbs for a three quarter length second to Yonder at Salisbury last time out, which puts him 10 lbs higher than his latest win. Dramatic Solo is only 3 lbs higher than when winning at Mussleburgh in May but that win did come at a lower level and he was well beaten at the same track off a similar sort of mark to this when last seen. Desert Destiny won a Catterick seller in June but was put in his place back in handicaps last time out so is discounted and Cripsey Brook has work to do to reverse form with a couple of these from recent starts. Moonwalking has been recently more effective over hurdles whilst Lord Oroko has generally found winning in this grade beyond him in the past. Both Mister Nimbus and Zefooha are course and distance winners and come into this race off the back of last time out wins at this track and Carlisle respectively. However, Mister Nimbus has been raised 5 lbs and steps in in class, whereas Zefooha remains at the same level, and has a lower, 3 lb burden, to try shake off. Add to that the form boost of Zefooha's CD win as Monte Pattino went in Musselburgh yesterday and Miss Keck has won since and also taking into account Bijou Dan boosted the Carlile form by winning yesterday, and he stacks up to be a good looking bet at 3/1 with Hills. The pair look closely matched based on CD running as 5.25 lengths split them and Zefooha is 5 lbs worse off today, however, on a formline through Monte Pattino I think there is two bits of evidence to point to Zefooha coming out on top. 1 pt win
